Norway Friendship/Denmark Constitution Day (+ catered BBQ luncheon)

This promises to be the first ever joint event between DSC and the vaunted Norwegian Club of SF, of which famed antarctic explorer Roald Amundsen was once a member. In honor of this joint event between these two clubs, the Norwegian and Danish flags will both proudly fly side-by-side from DSC's two flagpoles on Kastania Road. In addition, the noon flag-raising will feature both the Norwegian and Danish national anthems.

Honored Guest Speaker:

We are delighted to announce that the chaplain of the Norwegian Seaman's Church of San Francisco, Jon Olav Berg Hjelde, has genorously offered to deliver a brief PowerPoint presentation on the history of (and differences between) Norwegian and Danish aquavit!

Special Aquavit Flights:

To give attendees something to sample, contemplate and learn from during the Scandinavian aquavit presentation, we will be offering aquavit flights of four 0.5oz pours from the following aquavits:

Hovding (Norway)

Linie (Norway)

Bareksten Botanical (Norway)

Aalborg Taffel (Denmark)

Aalborg Export (Denmark)

Aalborg Nordguld (Denmark)

Ahus Midvinter (Sweden)

Very Special Beer:

Impossible-to-get Norwegian Nøgne Ø beer (Blanc, Blonde and Robust Porter) will be on hand as well as exclusive direct-from-Denmark Warpigs Foggy Geezer Hazy IPA (limited quantities of both, so come early).

Barbecue:

Catered BBQ from Petaluma's own Black Bean BBQ, featuring a mouth-watering buffet of hormone-free chicken, pork spare ribs, mixed green salad, potato salad, BBQ-style black beans, dinner rolls, fresh-baked brownies and cookies.

There will be a Norwegian/Danish trivia contest with Scandinavian gift baskets.

For paid members of either NCSF or DSC: $30

For non-members: $35
