Who We Are
The Danish Soldiers Club of Northern California was started in 1938 by a group of Danish Army Officers and United States GI’s, to further goodwill and understanding between Denmark and USA.
Over the years our club has evolved into a substantial Northern California social club. However we still maintain close relations with various Military organizations here and in Denmark, and we have strong respect for and appreciation of our military fighting men and women.
“The specific purpose of the Club is to recognize activities and influences of Danish Immigrants and their descendants, particularly of former Danish military personnel, in Northern California. Further, to encourage knowledge of customs, culture and traditions of Danish heritage”.
Membership is open to all who subscribe to the purpose of the organization, are recommended by two current members, and pay the annual dues.
We hold luncheon meetings every 1st Saturday in the month. Most of the year our meetings are at our property just outside Petaluma. A flag ceremony is an essential part of every meeting.
We usually serve Danish open-faced sandwiches, but we also have an occasional BBQ , and there is an open bar. At Christmas we have a dinner party, complete with a Christmas tree and SantaClaus.
